A Lifted Truck Is Not a Stock Truck — Don’t Align It Like One

If a shop sets your alignment to factory numbers, the truck will still pull, the tires will still wear unevenly, and you’ll be back in 10,000 km wondering what went wrong.

What Changes When You Lift a Truck
Every modification that raises the ride height affects the alignment angles your truck needs. Here’s what happens and why it matters.
Caster Shifts Backward
Lifting the front end pushes the caster angle rearward. Too much positive caster makes the steering heavy and the truck wander at highway speeds. Too little makes it feel unstable and reduces self-centering.
Camber Goes Negative
Lift kits push the top of the tire inward (negative camber). That means the inside edge of your tire carries more load than the outside — and wears faster. Correcting camber on a lifted truck often requires adjustable upper control arms.
Toe Changes Under Load
The altered geometry shifts where the tie rods pull the front wheels. If toe isn’t corrected for the new ride height, the tires scrub sideways with every kilometre — chewing through tread in as little as 15,000 km.
Steering Axis Inclination Changes
The angle of the steering pivot changes when the suspension geometry shifts. This affects how the truck tracks straight and how the steering wheel returns to centre after a turn.
Driveline Angles Shift
On 4x4 trucks, lifting the body changes the angle of the front and rear driveshafts. Vibrations at highway speed or a clunking sound during acceleration often trace back to uncorrected driveline angles after a lift.
Larger Tires Amplify Everything
Bigger tires have a larger contact patch and a longer lever arm. Even a half-degree alignment error that’s barely noticeable on stock tires becomes aggressive tire wear on 33s or 35s.

Levelling Kit Alignments
Front levelling kits raise the front 2–3″ to match the rear rake. Even this small change shifts caster and camber enough to require a proper alignment — not just a toe adjustment.
Suspension Lift Kits (2″–6″+)
Body lifts, coil spacers, and full suspension lift kits all change the geometry differently. We align based on the specific kit type, lift height, and whether adjustable control arms are installed.
Oversized Tires (31″–37″+)
Larger tires change the effective rolling radius and amplify alignment errors. We factor tire size into the target spec so the alignment works for your actual contact patch, not the factory tire.
Adjustable Control Arm Setups
Aftermarket upper control arms give us the adjustment range to correct caster and camber properly on lifted trucks. If your kit includes them, we use the full adjustment range. If it doesn’t, we’ll let you know if they’re needed.
4x4 and AWD Trucks
Four-wheel-drive trucks need all four corners aligned to match the transfer case and differential geometry. We perform four-wheel alignments and check thrust angle to ensure the rear axle tracks true.
Post-Installation Alignment
Just had a lift kit installed somewhere else? We’ll align it. Just had new tires mounted on a lifted truck? We’ll check and correct the alignment before you put kilometres on fresh rubber.
