Car AC Repair
in Victoria, BC
Blowing warm? Weak airflow? Strange smell from the vents? EDP Automotive provides full automotive AC service in Victoria — recharge, leak detection, compressor and condenser work, and full system diagnostics. All vehicles, all makes and models.
Why Your AC Isn’t Cooling Anymore
Automotive AC systems are sealed for a reason. When they stop performing, it’s rarely because they were “used up” — it’s usually because something let the refrigerant out, a component is failing, or an electrical issue is preventing the system from running properly. At EDP Automotive, we don’t just refill your refrigerant and send you down the road. We find the cause first, fix it once, and make sure your AC stays cold.
Signs Your Car AC Needs Repair
Eight of the most common AC and climate complaints Victoria drivers bring to us. If any of these sound familiar, it’s time for a proper inspection.
What We Do for Your Auto AC
From a quick recharge to a full compressor replacement, every part of your AC system gets the attention it needs.
AC Recharge & Leak Detection
Just topping off the refrigerant is a band-aid. We find the leak first, fix it, then recharge so your AC actually stays cold.
Compressor Replacement
The heart of the AC system. When the compressor fails, the system can’t produce cold air. We replace and properly flush the system.
Condenser & Evaporator Service
The condenser sits at the front of your vehicle (vulnerable to road debris). The evaporator hides in the dashboard. We service both.
Expansion Valve & Receiver-Drier
The smaller flow-regulating components. When the system is opened for major service, these get replaced as part of doing the job right.
Cabin Air Filter
Often overlooked, often the real cause of weak airflow and bad smells. A 10-minute fix that transforms how your climate system performs.
System Evacuation & Recharge
For R-134a systems, we evacuate, vacuum-test, and recharge in-house to OEM specifications. For newer R-1234yf systems, we handle the diagnosis and repair, then partner with a local shop for the final recharge.
Cool in Summer. Warm in Winter.
Most of this page focuses on AC because that’s where most complaints land — but the heating side gets the same care. Two systems, one shop.

R-134a vs. R-1234yf — What It Means for Your Repair
Newer vehicles (roughly 2017 and later) use R-1234yf refrigerant instead of the older R-134a. The two aren’t interchangeable, and the service equipment is completely different. Here’s how we handle each — honestly.
R-134a
The refrigerant used in most vehicles built before roughly 2017. We diagnose, repair, evacuate, and recharge R-134a systems fully in-house using our own equipment.
R-1234yf
The newer refrigerant required on most vehicles built after 2017. We handle the diagnosis and the repair work in-house, then partner with a local shop that has the dedicated R-1234yf equipment for the final recharge. One conversation, two trusted hands.
Climate Controls Are Electrical Systems
A surprising amount of “AC” and “heating” work is actually electrical. The AC clutch is electrical. The blower motor is electrical. Blend door actuators, blower resistors, AC pressure switches, climate control heads — all electrical.
When the root cause turns out to be a wiring issue, a failed sensor, or a control module problem instead of a refrigerant issue, our electrical diagnosis service is what fixes it. Same shop, same techs, same digital inspection report.

EXCELLENT SERVICEPosted on Colin SvobodaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I would highly recommend EDP Automotive Services. Fran, Steve, and Daryl, were once again great to deal with. There aren't many garages I trust with my vehicles. When other shops refer folks to EDP it says a lot about their reputation and expertise. When it comes to custom suspension work or alignments this is the place. I'll be back in the future and recommend EDP to any friends or family.Posted on Dan ClaxtonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great people, very friendly.
